Since the last update, I've been enjoying driving the "barn find" 280i whenever possible or weather permitting. The more seat time I get in the car, the more confident I am in just hopping in a going somewhere without fear of breakdown.
On the weekend of April 18, I took the 280i to the first show of the season, "The Gathering", which is held at the beautiful Shelton Vineyards at Dobson, NC, and sponsored by the Triumph Club of the Carolinas. Although we only had 4 TVRs in attendance this year, it was a picture perfect weekend, weatherwise, and very enjoyable to get the 280i out and stretch its legs .
Following the North Carolina trip, it was time to get the State Inspection done on the TVR and it passed with no problem, of course. Also, we have had some decent weather over the last month so I've been able to get the TVR out for periodic drives to enjoy it with the top down. Also got an opportunity to take some more photos of the car, particularly the interior so you can see what a nice job King's Automotive Upholstery did on the car.
The first weekend of June, the TVR and I will return to Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the annual Gold Cup Historic Races and hopefully, again this year, some time out on the track in the car. Then, the last weekend of June will see us travelling to Mid Ohio Racecourse for the third annual Griffith/TVR Gathering (for more information on this event, go to www.thegriffithyears.com and I look forward to seeing a good turnout of Griffiths and TVRs there. So, that's it until the next report.
